A WIDER MOVEMENT
How the category has developed overseas.
In the US and Canada, permanent roofline lighting has grown into established installation networks. These systems combine everyday architectural lighting with changeable colours and seasonal settings.
Trimlight and JellyFish are specialist permanent-lighting brands whose systems pair programmable lights with fitted channels that conceal the wiring. Trimlight’s network spans the US and Canada. JellyFish reports over 200 US dealers in 2023 and over 300 in 2024, a concrete example of this category reaching more places.
This is the category Geal is working towards in Ireland, alongside our current permanent-kit installation service.
THE DIFFERENCE, AT A GLANCE
Three ways to light your home.
Govee permanent kits and professionally integrated systems both offer year-round lighting. The main difference is how the equipment and installation are designed to fit your house.
| Your option | What you’re choosing | The trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Professionally integrated system | Lights, fitted track, wiring and controls planned together around your home. A tailored, discreet finish. | More design and fitting work, with a quote for the complete installation. |
| Permanent kit, such as Govee | Govee Lights 2 brings white light, colours and app control in a ready-made kit. Geal can fit it, with an optional PVC finish. | The layout must suit the chosen kit’s length, spacing and extension limits. |
| Temporary Christmas lights | A seasonal display to put up for the festivities and take down afterwards. | Fitting, removal and storage each season. |
One installation, different settings. Choose a colour-changing system and the same roofline can go from everyday white to festive colour.
LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER
What makes a system “integrated”?
It means planning the whole installation around the house. The light points follow the roofline, a fitted channel holds them neatly in place, and cable routes, power and controls are considered together.
- The lights
- Create the white glow or colour scene you choose.
- The track
- Holds the lights and conceals connecting cables.
- The complete fit
- Brings the layout, corners, wiring and controls together.
Inside Geal’s PVC finish.
Here’s a closer look at one of our current Govee installations. A section of the PVC lid is deliberately removed to show the lights and wires sitting inside the U-shaped channel. The second photo shows the cover in place.

This is our PVC finish for a Govee kit. It improves the fit and cable concealment while keeping the kit’s own lights and controls.
MAKING IT WORK FOR YOUR HOME
A few practical questions.
Would it suit my house?
A bungalow, gabled entrance or two-storey frontage each needs its own layout. Send us a photo and your location to start a conversation about the roofline, finish, access and suitable power provision. Our current fitting service excludes new sockets and electrical alterations.
What does it cost?
Our current fitting prices separate the installation from the lighting kit, which you buy separately. The roofline length, finish and access shape the quote. Geal Premium pricing will follow once the system and installation offer are confirmed.
What about weather, maintenance and support?
Choose equipment suited to the location and agree the mounting method, repair access and warranty terms before fitting. Product cover and installation support can be separate. With a custom-mounted kit, check how the fitting method affects its warranty.

A house photo and your location are enough to start.
